Technical Information for Aquatex® Water Based Ink
Curing: It is recommended that prints be cured through a conveyorized dryer with forced air for at least 1½ minutes at 350°F (177°C). They can be air dried followed by hand ironing on a hand setting, or air dried with Aqua Fix.
Modifier: AQT 1010 Clear Base is a homogenous medium for extending or mixing colors. AQT 2593 Anti Crock Agent may be added in amounts from 2-5% to increase crock (rub off) resistance and to improve resistance to dry cleaning.
Cleanup: Immediately after screen printing, wash the screen with warm water. For difficult spots, use Enviro Series 2000 Green.
Screen Mesh: 109-200/inch (50-90cm) monofilament mesh is recommended. For towels, use 60-80/inch (26-37cm) monofilament is recommended.
Reducers: Using Reducers in Aquatex is not recommended as opacity is lost. If needed, very small amounts of water may be used to slightly thin ink.
Retarders: Aqua Life Retarder may be used in amounts of 5-10%.
Squeegee: 60-70 durometer squeegee is recommended.
Stencil: Water resistant photographic emulsions such as ImageMate DZ 343.
Spraying: Mix it with up to 2-3 parts water to 1 part ink to make a sprayable solution. Use a spray bottle or gun. Let air dry, then heat cure at 350°F (177°C) for approximately. Heat cure1½ minutes for maximum wash fastness.
Special Note: To prevent ink from drying too quickly, mix 5-10% Aqua Life Retarder in with the Aquatex ink. If screen is left for long period of time, mix at least 10-20% Aqua Life Retarder with water and spray a mist over the image area. You may also place a plastic bag over to prevent freezing in.
